Biography
Shimon Lavan is a Captain (Seren) and fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force, known for a deceptively relaxed attitude that masks one of the most lethal combat records in his unit. Over a career marked by rapid recognition, he has accumulated over 76 air-to-air victories and destroyed nearly 300 ground vehicles, switching effortlessly between dogfighting advanced MiGs and dismantling armoured convoys. His most remarkable single mission took place in October 2023, when he shot down six enemy aircraft—including a MiG‑25PD and four MiG‑21Bis—in one sortie. Awarded the Medal of Courage and the Medal of Distinguished Service, Lavan’s intuitive, almost casual approach to high‑stakes combat has made him an invaluable asset to the IDF.
